Where everyone can bring their best!
A Non-Profit Organization

Our Vision

At Sophie's Potluck, we envision a world where every special needs child experiences boundless possibilities through purposeful and inclusive activities. Our vision is to be a catalyst for positive change, inspiring a society that recognizes and celebrates the unique abilities of each child, irrespective of their challenges.

Our Inclusivity

At Sophie's Potluck, we welcome individuals with any disability or special need to participate in all of our events. Our group strives for inclusivity, and all special needs children or young adults and their close friends and family are welcome.

Our Mission

At Sophie's Potluck, we are dedicated to enriching the lives of special needs children through thoughtful and inclusive activity planning. Our mission is to create a supportive and joy-filled environment where every child, regardless of their unique abilities, can thrive, learn, and connect with others. We believe in the power of tailored activities that nurture individual strengths, foster social interaction, and promote holistic development.

Guided by empathy, compassion, and a commitment to inclusion, we strive to organize a diverse range of activities that cater to the varied needs and interests of each child. Our goal is to provide a safe and encouraging space where children with special needs can build confidence, develop essential life skills, and experience the sheer delight of play.

Our story

My daughter Sophie is on the Autism Spectrum and can't always communicate her needs. I always have a bow in Sophie's hair to keep track of her and she loves peacocks.

We were looking for an activity that we could do with our friends, so it started at a painting studio. It was such a good a time, we thought it would be fun to do something more frequently. So we came up with the idea to run this website so we can notify people of our events, and let people register online. We are always looking for new opportunities for Sophie to try, and ask friends to join us. Then we started thinking of ways that we could really start to explore some venues that we wouldn't typically think of going to. With a little brainstorming and lots of support, we began emailing different places all over the city, and Sophie's Potluck was born. We hope to grow from here.

The name started as a little inside joke, but we came up with it because when you host a potluck, everyone brings something to eat. So with Sophie's Potluck, we wanted everyone to bring their best!
